Copyediting Examples

Peer-reviewed academic papers and feature articles

Find below excerpted pages from articles I have copyedited for an open-access academic journal. The journal follows Chicago style. These excerpts exemplify a medium-level copyedit, which comprises tidying up grammar and mechanics, flagging problematic writing (tone, redundancy, ambiguity, gaps in logic, poor organization, biased language), and fact-checking. The excerpts also illustrate the tone of my interactions with authors, which for this journal is informal and collaborative.

Admissions essays

Find below excerpted pages from admissions essays authored by students and researchers for whom English is a second language. These essays often required more substantive edits including extensive restructuring.
